BlueTie, a company started by David Koretz provides e-mail services for businesses. When the company started to get hacked, David knew he needed to find a solution. Organized crime figures started to steal credit card numbers, workers were sabotaging their bosses’ files and lovers were searching for their partners’ infidelities. Koretz and his team designed intrusion detection software to frustrate the hackers by setting up traps. The company wants to make it as time consuming and costly for the hackers so they don’t want to continue their online assaults. The software, Mykonor, plants fake files on the customers’ websites and confuses the intruders. It can also flood hackers’ automated scanning programs with information about the sites’ vulnerabilities which in reality, do not exist.
David Koretz started off as someone who owned an email service company for businesses but by tackling a problem and using creativity, he found a way to destroy hackers. I also started off by being an assistant at a dance school, but after running into problems of not being able to find events for our students to perform at, I want to create an app for finding them and directly getting in contact with the organizers.
