A resume may not be substituted for an application. <div id="box" style="border: solid; padding: 15px; border-color: gold; background-color: lightgray;"> Minimum Requirements: <ul><li>A high school diploma AND six (6) years of experience working within criminal justice, psychology, social work, education, or a related field.</li><li>An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.</li></ul> Must be 18 years of age or older. Must have ACT 33/34 clearance prior to appointment.It is the policy of Allegheny County that in order to receive a final offer of employment, candidates must successfully pass a background check, which includes verification of Allegheny County Real Estate Tax status, and drug/medical examinations as required for the position. The pre-employment drug screen must be completed within 48 hours of the acceptance of the conditional offer of employment. </div> Position Summary: Reporting directly to the Administrator of Re-Entry Services, the Vocational Training Supervisor provides monitoring, coordination, planning, recommendations, and assistance to the Classification, Education, and Re-Entry departments for both vocational and educational incentive program participation. The Vocational Training Supervisor is responsible for maintaining the efficiency of the educational and vocational incentive program while ensuring that the needs of incarcerated individuals are being met in a timely manner. The incumbent will work collaboratively with other departments to recommend vocational assignments, educational classes, and re-entry classes. The expected work schedule is Monday through Friday. However, schedules must be flexible to meet the needs of the educational and vocational assignments. Evening and weekend work may be required when additional support is needed. Overview: Duties: <ul><li>Monitors and audits the incentive program to ensure the accurate distribution of incentives for participants in educational and vocational training. </li><li>Coordinates the screening and placement of incarcerated individuals into various vocational assignments.</li><li>Advises facility staff on solving problems relating to the incarcerated individuals’ vocational assignments.</li><li>Collaborates with the Classification Department to help recommend incarcerated individuals for vocational placement.</li><li>Collaborates with the Education and Re-entry Departments to enroll incarcerated individuals in the incentive program.</li><li>Receives and audits attendance records for vocational and educational programming.</li><li>Works directly with the cashier’s office to ensure proper distribution of incentives.</li><li>Works closely with both educational instructors and vocational instructors to help them understand the incentive program.</li><li>Ensures those with language barriers and/or hearing impairments have access to interpretation services and placement into educational/vocational services programs.</li><li>Actively works to resolve complaints from the incarcerated population.</li><li>Keeps a roster of all program participants.</li><li>Prepares utilization/monitoring reports and additional data or reports as needed.</li><li>Performs other related duties as assigned or directed.</li></ul> Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of: <ul><li>Correctional Educational and Vocational programs.</li><li>The general skills requirements within various vocational areas of the jail.</li><li>Criminal Justice system.</li><li>Resource engagement.</li></ul> Skill in: <ul><li>Microsoft Office, including Excel.</li></ul> Ability to: <ul><li>Function independently and make informed decisions using sound professional judgment and ethics.</li><li>Seek creative solutions to enhance, develop, or augment services/programs within the institution.</li><li>Adapt to changing priorities and manage multiple tasks in a stressful environment.</li><li>Demonstrate strong organizational skills.</li><li>Establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, supervisors, and various departments within the jail. </li><li>Communicate effectively orally and in writing and follow written and oral instructions.</li><li>Negotiate, manage, and resolve conflicts successfully.</li><li>Ability to analyze and interpret data.</li><li>Apply solution-focused problem-solving.</li><li>Manage programs and resources efficiently.</li></ul> Residency: Not required to live in Allegheny County Veterans' Preference: Will be awarded to eligible candidates. <div id="Needtocenterandbold" class=" text-md-center font-weight-bold"> AN EQUAL OPPORTUNITY EMPLOYER - M/F/V/D </div> <div id="Needtocenterandbold2" class=" text-md-center font-weight-bold"> <a href="https://apps.alleghenycounty.us/HRJobApplication/firstpage.aspx?id=2962" id="MainContent_Applyonline">Apply Online</a> </div> </div> </div>
