In really quickly changing contemporary world the business patterns change so rapidly, you need to watch your competitors really closely, and adjust so really swiftly that Business Strategy becomes more like Business Tactics. It happens because with Globalization and technology there are much more ways to learn your competitors and quickly react to their moves.
The same in sports; in some sports they say that at some point you have to replace either the coach or half of the team. It happens when other teams in the league have learned the tactics and strategy of the team and the team becomes an open book for those other teams. Why? Because many coaches stick to the same strategy/tactics. They are not flexible. Smarter coaches will change team's strategy/tactics and even teach the players to play in some different positions, like one of the hockey players is now playing on the left and he used to play on the right wing before. And, that player, who used to be a top scorer, stopped scoring at the right wing. And now he is a top scorer again.
