Why Young People Today Hold More Power Than Ever Before (650 hits)

20-year-old John Meyer started a company called Fresco News, closed a $1.6 million dollar round of funding, and has made more than 25 hires – all in less than 12 months, and all while saving major media outlets time and money in delivering important information to the general public.

When he was 17, Conrad Farnsworth built a nuclear fusion reactor in his garage for less than $5,000, whereas in the 1940s it took the work of 3 governments, 7 years, 130,000 people, and $26 billion dollars by today’s standards to create the first atomic bombs.

Put simply, never before have young people had this much power, positioning, and potential to change the world.Over the last few years, through my work on a book, community, and consulting firm all under the brand 2 Billion Under 20, and out of personal curiosity, I’ve identified some of the world’s smartest and most talented millennials. Then I’ve connected these individuals to one another and shared the insights I’ve gathered from them with as many people and corporations as possible through professional speaking, a bestselling book, and now this TED talk.

This article talks about how young generations today have potential to utilize technology and education to their advantage at any given time they want. But it is not jus the availability of resources that other generations did not have that makes us great, it is the mindset that we have been conditioned to have that gives us this power. After all we are the ones that will have the most time with all the resources and learning to change and adapt rapidly just as fast as our world changes and evolves is a must.
