4 Steps for Creating a Roadmap to Your Year-End Goals Today (547 hits)

Can you plan out your entire business year? Here's how to deconstruct your future and set a roadmap for your year-end goals, today.

The first quarter of a new year is a great time to reflect on the past, but more importantly, it's the perfect time to look forward. Without a proper roadmap to your future goals, you may never get to your destination on time.

No one became a success overnight, and accomplishing your goal shouldn't be any different. Here are four action steps for creating your year-end goal, and deconstructing that into bite-sized wins that you can accomplish throughout the year.

1. Define your big end-of-the-year goal

What is that one year-end goal you want to accomplish? By New Year's Eve, will you be giving yourself a high five for that amazing success? Write down your big goal.

2. Create 12 steps that would get you to that goal

Break down your major goal into 12 steps that, if completed in sequence, would accomplish your year-end goal. These are going to be your monthly 'action steps.' Make these steps a bit of work and hustle to complete; you want to be able to break these down even further through the months.

3. Break your steps into weekly "mini goals"

For each of the 12 steps, make four mini items that build your progress. Take on the step of the month with bite-sized goals. Don't forget to celebrate these small wins as you complete them. This keeps you motivated as you continue on your year-long journey and also makes sure you don't give up!

4. Wake up, hustle, have fun

Wake up every day, look at your week's action item, and do two things that would move you closer to completing that one weekly item. Moving inch by inch gets you down the field. Your huge year end goal can be overwhelming but looking at completing two very small but significant items daily is a sure way to get to the end successfully. This also makes sure you don't lose focus on the one goal and start pivoting and deviating from the end result. All of these tiny daily to-dos keep you on track.
