As technology advances, more jobs are being replaced by computers like telemarketing, receptionists, and proofreaders. Glassdoor has released a list of jobs that will not be replaced and cosmetology was right on that list. This industry is people based. From co-workers to clients, the service needs a personal touch and robots will never be able to give that aspect. Everyone has had a bad experience at one point with the cosmetology field but robots will not be able to register a mistake and be able to come up with a solution quickly. Robots can do many things but when it comes to creativity, they seem to flop. All the new hairstyles or new makeup trends is made by the people. Human cosmetologists bring creativity and perspective. Cosmetologists are also able to keep up with these trends as this business is fast paced. The robo-stylists would need to download the newest software to understand the current trends and by that time, there might be something else everyone loves. The most important aspect of every makeup, nail, or hair appointment is the post procedure. It is a known fact that robots do not know how to feel. Human stylists are able to sense when their clients are unhappy. In this field, it is essential to know your client and be able to offer them the products that would work for their needs. This helps keep clients coming back and gaining more clientele from word of mouth. As time goes by, robots might be replacing the more computer-savvy jobs but the salon environment is sure to stay the same.
